CHOOSING A CREATOR SUPPORT PLATFORM
Alternative to Buy Me a Coffee in Nigeria, Ghana, and Africa
Looking for an alternative to Buy Me a Coffee in Nigeria, Ghana, or elsewhere in Africa? Start with the part that matters after someone sends a contribution: whether you can withdraw it to an account you own in your country.
For creators who meet its Nigerian bank verification requirements, Buy Me a Malt offers a local option: a personal treat page, checkout in naira or US dollars through Bachs, and withdrawals to a Nigerian bank. Ghanaian bank and mobile-money payouts are not currently supported by BMM. This guide explains that distinction so you can choose based on the payment route you actually need.
This guide is published by Buy Me a Malt. Country availability and competitor information were checked on 1 November 2026.
Does Buy Me a Coffee support payouts in Nigeria and Ghana?
As of that check, neither Nigeria nor Ghana appears on Buy Me a Coffee’s published payout-country list. Its help centre says creator payouts are handled through Stripe and depend on country eligibility. See the official Buy Me a Coffee payout-country list for the current position before signing up.
Being able to visit a page or send a contribution is different from being eligible to receive creator payouts. Check the requirements for your own residence, identity documents, and bank account.
A Buy Me a Coffee alternative in Nigeria
Buy Me a Malt lets people appreciate your work with a treat that feels familiar: malt, suya, jollof, coffee, or a custom choice. You share a page link, and supporters choose whether to contribute. Treats represent monetary contributions; they aren’t food deliveries.
Supporters can use NGN or USD checkout through Bachs. Creators withdraw to a verified Nigerian bank account. USD balances use a USD-to-NGN quote for the Nigerian bank payout, so review the exchange rate and amount you’ll receive before confirming.
You can also create a goal for something specific and share its progress. For a closer look at the two platforms, see our Buy Me a Malt and Buy Me a Coffee comparison.
What about creators in Ghana?
If you need to receive funds into a Ghanaian bank account or a mobile-money wallet, confirm that exact payout method with any platform you’re considering. Ask about settlement in Ghana cedis, identity verification, withdrawal minimums, and fees.
BMM’s current withdrawal flow is for Nigerian banks. It should not be treated as a Ghanaian bank or mobile-money payout solution. If your circumstances span both countries, contact BMM support to confirm your eligibility before collecting contributions.
Choosing an alternative elsewhere in Africa
Country coverage needs to be checked country by country. A platform accepting payments from international supporters doesn’t establish that it can pay creators in every African country.
Before you share a new support page, confirm the payout destination and currency, the documents you need, and any withdrawal minimum or waiting period. Then check whether your supporters can use the payment methods familiar to them. Bank transfer, card, and mobile-money availability are separate questions.
Compare the full cost, not just the platform fee
Buy Me a Coffee lists a 5% transaction fee and no monthly fee in its official FAQ. BMM also takes a 5% platform fee from each treat. That shared percentage alone won’t tell you which option fits your situation.
Payment-processing costs, withdrawal charges, and currency conversion can affect the amount that reaches your bank. Review the current checkout and withdrawal breakdowns, especially when supporters pay in a different currency. BMM shows the payout fee and, where applicable, the exchange-rate quote before confirmation.
Who is Buy Me a Malt a good fit for?
Consider BMM if you want voluntary, one-time appreciation for your work, local treat choices, NGN or USD checkout, and a verified Nigerian bank withdrawal route. Developers, teachers, artists, writers, and community builders can all use a page to let people say thank you.
If your priority is a payout to a Ghanaian account or another African country, establish that support first. The right alternative is one that can get your contributions to you through a payment route you’re eligible to use.
Getting started with BMM
Create your page, choose your treat, and explain what you do in a short bio. Confirm your payout setup, then share your link with the people who know your work. Our guide to what to write on your Buy Me a Malt page has examples you can adapt.
