SANDBOX

Your first connection.

Test Connect locally with a Sandbox application. Download the starter, build from scratch with the SDK, or let an AI assistant set up your repo.

1. Register a Sandbox application

Open Developers, choose Sandbox, and register your website and callback URLs. For the starter, use:

Sandbox URLs (starter)
Website: http://localhost:3090
Callback: http://localhost:3090/api/bmm/callback

After approval, generate your API key. If you build manually, register the exact localhost (or tunnel) URLs your app will use instead.

2. Choose how to set up

Use the demo kit to try the flow quickly, the SDK if you already have an app, or an AI prompt to wire Connect into your repo for you.

Use the Next.js starter

Fastest way to test Connect locally. Download or clone the demo kit, add your Sandbox credentials, then run it.

Or clone
git clone https://github.com/unclebay143/bmm-connect-nextjs-starter.git
cd bmm-connect-nextjs-starter

Configure and run

Copy the example env file and paste your approved Sandbox values. Never use NEXT_PUBLIC_ for the API key.

Setup
cp .env.example .env.local
.env.local (Sandbox)
BMM_ORIGIN="https://buymeamalt.com"
BMM_CLIENT_ID="your-approved-sandbox-application-id"
BMM_API_KEY="your-sandbox-server-only-api-key"
APP_ORIGIN="http://localhost:3090"
BMM_REDIRECT_URI="http://localhost:3090/api/bmm/callback"
Install and run
npm install
npm run dev
  1. Open http://localhost:3090 and click Connect BMM.
  2. Approve access, then confirm the support button appears.
  3. Disconnect in the starter or in BMM → Share → Connected apps.

The starter uses a demo browser identity. Replace it with your real user session before production.

Ready for your live website?

Keep this Sandbox app for testing. Production uses a separate Live application, HTTPS callbacks and your real user sessions.
